This trip to Kruger National Park was part of a 60th birthday celebration for a close family member who expressed a bucket list desire to go on safari for her birthday. While the Serengeti was our first choice, because of the weather at that time of the year (March) we had to explore other options. Even within Kruger – choosing a reserve and then choosing a lodge can leave you boggled and wanting to rush out to take out a mortgage to pay for your holiday. While we didn’t get to experience the great migrations that can be seen in Tanzania, we saw all of the big five (on multiple occasions) and we felt that Kruger was probably the perfect first time experience for a safari novice.
We would recommend spending a minimum of four nights to get in at least six game drives.
