Kochi or Cochin as we’d rather call it, is like second home to one of us Vacationists. Apart from spending a few years growing up here (at the Naval military base on Wellington Island) it’s also a destination that has us coming back for more; repeatedly. Each time we visit, we discover something new and wonderful about this verdant city.
Whether it is the beautiful houseboats or the Ayurvedic spa treatments or the fiery, fabulous food, there is just so much to love about Cochin. It is now also home to the Biennale – an international arts exhibition, that is certainly worth attending.
Most people who visit Kerala, tend to land into Cochin and head straight to the backwaters of Kumarakom or Alleppey. While we are big fans of both, we certainly would not recommend bypassing the city altogether. Make your way to the quaint lanes of Fort Kochi and spend a few days exploring this destination’s rich culture.
Ideally, you should spend two nights here to get a taste of all the flavours the city has to offer.
